Default More Update Whining. - E Management

With Mantra of Recall and Both versions of Inspired Hex nerfed, what will become of monk E-management?

While it is frustrating that the mesmer emanagement skills got nerfed, you have to admit they were a cut above everything else. Power Drain and Channeling remain untouched, and even the nerfed skills are still good. This will probably make other secondaries, or even some of the monk emanagement skills, more attractive. Who knows, maybe energy support characters like BiP and whatnot will become more prevalent.

OoB
That and, they were nerfed but E-Drain is still good, how many points of energy did it loose? 1? 2?
Also, we have + energy runes now

I've played OoB Boon before.

I'm more upset about the Insp. Hex spells which are the only form of E Management on many healer builds. Replacing them with a skill like E Drain or OoB would mean no WoH or BLight...

With 9 Inspiration, I think Energy Drain now returns 4e less per cast. However, I think the breakpoints a little different now, so you can run 8 Inspiration if you want. At 10, I think it only returns 2e less.

Why not try managing your energy with skill usage, like mo/a's have been doing for months?

Sig of devotion anyone?

Just a thought but now that Etheral Burden is now 1 second cast, is it at all viable that monks can invest in illusion magic and benefit from lenghtened Distortion and the 'recall-like' benefit of Ethereal Burden? Yes its costly but its non-elite and is also defensive against melee. Just a thought.

Edit: Its rubbish. with 10 Illusion you get a return of 3 energy from EB and distortion is 4 secs long.

QFT~ cant say more, its not THAT hard to manage your energy, just if you CONSTANTLY rely on Inspired/Revealed and whatnot from the Inspiration line (excluding boons, of course...), you obviously will get hurt badly by this.

i dont see a big problem in this, i still use MoR for boon, Edrain i will not use anymore, Inspired and Revealed will still fit on most of my bars, its not a big deal~

Mo/A's were vastly inferior to Mo/Me blights in pressure/edenial situations, which is what QQ has been saying since forever.

How Signet of Devotion works as emgt is beyond me. What I mean is, it clearly *does* work, but I never understood how people let monks get away with it. It is a *highly* visible skill with 2s activation time, which is pretty much the definition of dshot fodder. Furthermore, every time you see the monk hit the signet you have a good opportunity for spiking someone down. A competent monk will cancel the sig and RoF or prot spirit, but it definitely slows down the reaction speed, and that split-second might make all the difference.

Insp. Hex isnt a crutch, its a tool. To lose a lot of its benefit is not good, but with something like a WoH build, you can still manage your E w/o using IH at all.

Not directed at you, but it gets annoying when people post on PvE forums and talk about PvP situations, PvP and PvE e-management for a monk are going to be very very different, so lets all try and discern the 2 when we post

That would depend on your build, and how much secondary defense it has. Mo/a's are great for mitigating damage, and can certainly stop a spike.

Interesting point, however d-shots typically go for things more important than a 2s ~100 point heal, for instance party, aegis, taint, wards, etc... Simply applying pressure to secondary pressure relief is generally better to hurt a mo/a's energy than working on d-shotting his sig devo. I'm always monking, and if a heal party gets distracted I'm in a lot worse shape than I'd be if I lost my sig devo.

Actually they shouldn't really be different at all. The only thing about PvP skillbars is that they're better. They take into account the fact that the opposition will be better, and thus have to be fine tuned before being used. PvE bars can be haphazardly put together, and still work just fine.

I play a straight up healing build and it used no monk skills. Just alot of 5e heals and 2 healing-type signets and divine spirit. Just know when to heal - that's one of the greatest e-managements you can have.

Luckily the Blessed Escapist archetype is still fully functional.

And Channeling will still keep lots of HA builds running.

And my guild just tried a (gasp) Peace and Harmony Healer, Blessed Escapist, with an adrenaline warrior carrying Succor. +6 energy regen on the monks at all times is pretty hot.
